RESEARCHING RAUGO ︎︎︎ objects from Raugo firing

2022

Raugo (or Obvara/Baltic Raku) firing  - is an old Eastern European firing method using a mixture of yeast, flour and water.
Vessels were made in collaboration with a local baker / restaurator from Poznań, Poland - Piotr Lasik from Bardzo kawiarnia who prepared the sourdough mix.

Cone-shaped vessels are the results of series of Raugo firings, conducted in order to complete a part of my PhD research on Baltic Raku. Relationship between temperature, density of a sourdough, different types of the flour used and how they affect the appearing patterns was being investigated.
